Dr. Kenny adjusting

Chiropractic Care

We provide brain based spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing a recently developed chiropractic technique, Functional Analysis, that focuses on adjusting joints to improve breathing and movement mechanics. Our understanding of the workings of the human body are based upon energy efficiency of the nervous system which includes the brain. The nervous system is responsible for controlling the entire body. At every moment, our brain only has so much energy available to it. Since breathing and movement are constant energy burdens needed to be coordinated by the brain, making these processes more efficient frees up the most energy for the brain to better run other tasks such as:

  • joint and muscle repair,
  • immune function,
  • digestion,
  • emotional regulation,
  • and hormone regulation.

Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable, and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractic office that cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, our mission is to get you out of pain and back to (or to begin) your high-functioning daily life as quickly as possible. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health and wellness.

Neurological Rehabilitation

neuro.rehab

Dr. Levi has a focus in treatment for stroke, concussion, autism, brain trauma, Parkinson's, ALS, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, and epilepsy. Dependent upon the longevity and severity of the patient's condition, treatment is given to meet the patient at their current state of health then gradually improve their ability to function throughout daily life.

Time is of the essence with neurological conditions, as the brain is always accommodating to the patient's lifestyle. The longer the brain operates in an abnormal state, the more work it will take for better function to become the norm. The brain is a peculiar and powerful organ. Once it learns how to run a program (such as limping on one side with strokes, headaches with concussions, shuffling in Parkinson's) that program never goes away, it can only be drowned out by other programs that have become stronger in comparison. To support and stimulate more normal programs for the neurologically injured patient, it is imperative that the patient's caretakers consistently participate in their treatment at home.

Treatment of mental illness is another asset of neurological rehab, as it can be used to change the functioning of the body in association with certain moods and feelings and, through improved neurological functioning, can improve one's own internal awareness and emotional regulation. Didactic therapy is a common approach taken with these illnesses and is utilized at our office. Some conditions in particular that Dr. Levi treats include: bipolar disorder, sociopathic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, PTSD, and schizophrenia .

corrective exercies

Corrective Exercises

At Wayne Sport & Spine, we teach our patients how to perform individual, specific exercises which can help correct their breathing and movement irregularities as well as strengthen their body which may be a cause of pain. Many of these corrective exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are compensating for weakness, poor breathing, and poor movement . Types of pain such as low back pain, mid back pain, neck pain, and headaches can be the consequences of such compensation. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our well-trained chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

lifesytle advice

Lifestyle Advice

Many of our patients come to see Dr. Levi to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, he often finds it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should do differently or stop to prevent an aggravation of your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help you achieve the fulfilling lifestyle you deserve, one that is full of the activities that you enjoy most. We recognize that you are a whole person, not defined by your symptoms, and we use our expertise to help you reach total health and wellness.

Nutritional Counseling

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health, and as part of that goal we provide specific recommendations for healthy food choices and the occasional supplement, especially single amino acids to support neurotransmitter production. Nutritional counseling by our chiropractic health professional can assist a patient on their return to optimal health and help ameliorate their specific challenges. Do you know what foods to search for? Do you know which supplements may help your symptoms? Do you know how these supplements interact with one another or your food? At Wayne Sport & Spine, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.
